The Ramblers Association now have a greatly improved website which is an exceptional rescource for all walkers, hykers and young families wanting to go for walks with young children. This site lists everything from historical walks to guided walks and really audious walks.

Find A Walk Near Me by Walking Britain is a truly excellent and free resource. Just enter where you are or where you would like to walk - and print out directions. The walks are graded and you can buy a specific map of the area at the same time. These are proper OS maps and weather proofed if required.

I always think of walking as one of the few activities you can do for free - and now you can with this guide!

Great shop for outdoor equipment. Staff very helpful and will try and source any product not in stock. Convenient on street parking at premises is free. Late night opening during the week means calling in after work is possible. Check opening hours before making a trip.

Great shop with a great selection of outdoor clothing and products. Staff are friendly and very helpful when you need advice.

Good shop for camping and cycles, owner is a good bloke who will go well out of his way to help you.

IKEA

Easily one of the best shops to come to Belfast. You can find everything you need for a house in IKEA. The Belfast store is so well laid out, so many handy signs and maps to point you in the right direction. Staff are easily seen and very polite when asked questions. Always there to lend a hand to take things to the car or find out where something is. Top quality.

Fantastic store with enormous range of household furniture and gadgets at reasonable prices. Ample free parking. Great restaurant with seating overlooking the city airport runway. Prepare to spend several hours here! There's also a play area to leave the children while you browse!

Another good one. Walkingworld has huge library of guides with a good selection of walks, of varying lengths and grades, pretty well anywhere in the UK. The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks.

Crucially you can also find walks France, Spain, Norway, Portugal and Australia!
